Founder’s spiritual Journey

I’m Hideki Nagahara, Japanese, founder of the church and school.

I was baptized at an evangelical church when I was 26, where I met my wife, and we later married.

While I have served as a deacon, a newly appointed pastor introduced teachings that diverges from the Bible.

It caused confusion among the congregation.

To solve this problem, I deeply studied the Bible and realized that the Reformed faith is that Jesus, Paul, and the apostles proclaimed. I came to know for the first time that my faith was given by God's providence.

I was overwhelmed with gratitude because His astonishing grace guides an unworthy, rebellious sinner like me from before salvation to final completion. I was able to fully entrust God for the solution of my Sin, which I could never handle on my own, and experience true peace in my heart. My wife is the same. She is so grateful for “Institutes of the Christian Religion”.

We have worked with missionaries since 2001.

The church and school were established with the help of missionaries in 2001.

Since the founding, Japanese staffs worked with missionaries overseas, shared Jesus Christ through English education.

More than 20 missionies worked at Grace.

Currently, about 50 children, 20 middle and high school students, and 5 adults are learning English with us.

Japan had 250 years of persecution period.

Since Japan has given 250 years of historical prohibition of Christianity, many people are still afraid of joining the churches.

So, we value in sharing the Gospel through English school.

Our Way of Mission

Our way of mission is to meet people through school and share Christ with them. Over 50 children hear the Gospel twice a year at our school events.

Many of the students stay with us long-term, from preschool to high school. When they leave our school, we offer them a booklet we made. It’s titled "Let’s Read the Gospel of Luke" including information of the gospel and our Sunday service.

This is part of our mission to sow seeds of faith
