As our current pastor is retiring, we are seeking a full-time Executive Pastor, with urban/multi-ethnic ministry experience, to Shepherd the English congregation and oversee two church plants, a Hindi and a Spanish-speaking congregation. Responsibilities
To help MBC fulfill its purpose statement of creating a passionate pursuit of God's glory that leads to active worship, hungering discipleship, profound fellowship, purposeful ministry, and the enthusiastic spreading of the good news.
• To preach, teach, train, and shepherd the multi-ethnic English congregation
- Sharing the inerrant word of God in an understandable way that challenges, promotes spiritual growth, and convicts the congregation (minimum Sunday AM and Wednesday PM services)
- Mentoring and guiding the church leadership, including elders, deacons, and deaconesses in order to provide and encourage spiritual growth in congregants
- Foster support of local, national, and international missions
- Prayerfully plant additional congregations to expand the gospel's reach in South Brooklyn
• To oversee and guide the non-English congregation plants
- Mentoring the pastors
- Mediating issues (between the congregations and if necessary, within a congregation)
- Ensuring preaching of the Gospel that is in line with the Bible and the doctrinal statement of MBC
A Godly man called to be, not aspiring to be, a pastor. Mature in the faith as laid out in: Job 31, Eph. 4:11-12, Jm. 3:1, 1 Pt. 5:1-3, Ph. 3:17, 1 Tim. 3:1-13 and Tit. 1: 6-9. • Agrees with the MBC Church Constitution and Doctrinal Statement. • Minimum educational level: BA degree or attending seminary • Ordained (or in the process of becoming ordained) • Must have a mix of biblical studies education and ministry experience, preferably urban/multi-ethnic • Biblically and theologically literate (Jer. 3:15, Tit. 2:1, 2 Tim. 4:2, Eph. 6: 13-17) • A man of integrity, accountable to God for his church leadership and the congregation • If married, must be a biblical husband of a woman called to be a pastor's wife (Eph. 5: 22-33) • Has an active and growing relationship with God through a consistent prayer life (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Hebrews 4:16, Ephesians 6:18) When applying, applicant must submit answers to the following questions: 1.
